Social Media and Storytelling for the Modern Innkeeper

By Daniel Edward Craig, Reknown.

It was great fun to meet so many B&B owners and innkeepers at PAII’s Innkeeping Conference & Tradeshow in charming Charleston, SC last week.

As promised, here are the slides from my presentation, Social Media, Reputation Management and Storytelling for the Modern Innkeeper. I’ve added some of my commentary in orange boxes. To see the examples I discussed, click on the slide.

Hi Daniel, I was at your talk at PAII with my husband, we are aspiring innkeepers. In your powerpoint at the end you had a list of additional resources which we don't see on here, we didn't get a chance to write them down unfortunately. Could you help? We really enjoyed your talk and got all three of your books at the tradeshow, didn't get to get them signed unfortunately.

  2. There's always something new to learn.  We've come out of the witness protection scheme and added our pics to the front page of the website.  If sales plummet this year we'll know why and who to blame.  🙂

Last week we made our links to our social media much more prominent, too.  I decided that if we're engaged in social media then there's no point in hiding it away.

    • Good show, Phil. I love it when innkeepers tell their story – it’s always compelling, and so many people have a secret desire to run their own inn. You do a great job of this and many other things. Keep it up!

Very good stuff. I'm writing a blog article on the vacation rental experience and I might quote your post!

    Hi Daniel.
Awesome presentation. B&B is such a charming part of the lodging/hospitality Industry. That's how I grew up traveling in norther part of Europe through Norway, Sweden and Finland. I can recall all the fascinating B&B. Brings up some good memories to think back on those trips.
    Thanks for sharing this.
    Cheers.. Are
